{A Weekend Get Away}

Starting last year, my MIL has rented a house/cabin at the end of summer for all of us to get together for a weekend. Hubsy’s brother and SIL live down in Texas so we meet about half way in South Central Oklahoma. This year we stayed in a nice log house on 70 acres with a pond and access to the river.HouseView-from-Deck

While the girls stayed in the cool house, the boys went fishing.The-BoysThe-Teacher

One evening, after dinner, we decided to venture down to the river and explore a bit.BrothersChristian-River

It was a pretty good weekend. Hubsy did get a little bored because there wasn’t much to do…..and it was HOT.  I, on the other hand, was smart and packed up my laptop. While we didn’t have internet access, I could at least work on design projects.

I can’t believe that was a week ago. This weekend isn’t going to be as relaxing. We have  a birthday party and chores to get caught up on.

Hope your weekend is a good one!

XOXO,

{Birthday Girl}

Hey there! Did everyone have a good weekend? Ours was full with lots of swimming and a birthday party! Speaking of birthday party, I promised some pictures of the birthday girl, didn’t I?  ;)

Before the party started, I arrived early to take some pics of the party girl. There was also an ulterior motive for the photo shoot….we had to prepare her present from HeHe & Uncle James (That’s what she calls us). But that is for another post. Today it’s birthday pics!

Pose-#1Post-#2Post-#3Post-#4

This last one is just a snapshot right before she opened her presents. When she saw me pointing the camera at her she told one of her friends, who was trying to talk to her, “Just a minute! I’m getting my picture taken.” Then she did this pose. She’s such a DIVA! LOL

Hope everyone has a great week!

{May, Oh May}

I’m still here. Did you think I disappeared? May is always a busy month for us. Lots of birthdays, anniversaries, & other holidays/events.

As you all know, Mother’s day was last weekend and this year, for us, it included a road trip to see the Hub’s Grandmother. I took several pictures (most of which were taken from a moving car).

Our trip took us out to Eastern Oklahoma to a town of a fairly good size but still has that small town charm. These are some pics that I took….yes, in the car and while it was moving (I think I’m getting pretty good at that).  :)

I know this is soooo late but, Happy Mother’s Day to all you Mommies out there. I hope you had a great weekend!

{Winter Blues}

I’m pretty sure it all started with this:
12 24 09_0200 copy This day, Christmas Eve, was the worst snow storm blizzard for Oklahoma in a very, very long time. Like my aunt, who was born in 1919, cannot remember ever getting this much snow.
Yes, it ruined delayed our Christmas and nothing went according to plan and yes, I was very bummed about it all but I don’t think the true winter blues hit until this week. This week I have just felt blah. Everyone thinks I’m depressed but I’m really not. I’m just tired and bored and tired. I was having a very quick lunch with my sister today and was telling her about i and she said they were kind of feeling the same way. She thinks we are just stir crazy. You see, we rarely stay home. We’re always making trips to Target & Starbucks, going out to eat and going to the movies. However, it’s been crazy cold here, colder than we are use to, so we haven’t been leaving the house as much so she’s probably right . . . at least I hope so.
With all that said, I totally wouldn’t care if winter just moved on and let Spring make an early appearance.
I’m ready for bright and cheery . . . and warmth. I’m ready for the flowers to start blooming and for the leaves to come back on all the trees. I’m ready to drive my car with the sun roof open and radio blasting.
I’ve been adding Valentine goodies and Birthday cards to the shop.
Birdie-Bags1
I’ve also been working on some Valentine goodies for scrapbooking and hopefully, I’ll have them in the shop before Valentine’s Day.  :)
Want a sneak peek? I don’t know if this will make the final cut, but here ya go!

How are you dealing with the winter blues? Please share, I’d love some ideas!

{Catching Up}

My 2 Favorite Things
It’s 6:45am. I’ve been up since 5:30am . . .  not sure why. It’s been a rough week. This week was suppose to be my first full week back at work since November but instead, I got sick. I was attacked by an annoying head cold. It seems like I get sick every year after the holidays . . . to much going on to get adequate rest, I guess.
Before Christmas, I had already made my New Year’s resolution to Simplify and be more organized in my home and with my time. So far, this year is not going according to plan:
I’ve been a bad blogger. I wanted to start blogging more about my life and things I make. I enjoy blogging but I just haven’t had taken the time to do it.
I wanted to scrapbook for myself. During my break, I had planned on scrapbooking some of the many photos I take. Instead, I spent that time with family and taking more photos that I will someday never get scrapped. But, I guess I can’t complain about making more memories, huh?
I had intended on having my shop back up and running in full speed by now but as you can probably see, that hasn’t happened. You see, I wanted to work on stuff over Christmas and have an inventory built up for the first of the year so I could have more time to spend on other things like cleaning my house and spending time with family. Instead, I spent time with family over Christmas and am now scurrying around to get stocked for Valentine’s day. It will be here before we know it.
What is your New Year’s resolution and how is it going? Got any tips for a gal that works full time and has a little business on the side? I could sure use your help because as you can see, I still haven’t figured it out after 3 years.

{A Little Break}

Some of you may have noticed the big white rectangular box in my left sidebar. Well, that would be my Etsy shop. It’s empty. “Why?”, you ask. Well, in getting ready for the craft show last Saturday, I decided that after 3 years of running the shop, it was time for a break. So, from now until the first of the year the shop will be closed. During this time I plan to re-group and work on coming up with some new and fresh ideas.
Now, don’t worry. I’ll still be around, blogging, Twittering & Facebooking so if you are involved in any of those, let’s be friends!
Also, during this time, I would love to hear any comments/suggestions for the new year!
One more thing, so you don’t have to look at the big white box, I’m going to replace it with my Etsy Favorites!
Happy Holidays

{What happens on Girls Night . . . }

is shared with all! Ok, I’m not going to share all but I will give you the highlights.
But first, here’s the back story. My BFF Jami and I have been having these nights since she moved to OKC. Being married, they are needed . . . you just have to have time with your girlfriends! Well, this particular night had been planned for almost a year. You see, Jami had her second child back in the spring and she knew for sure she would need a night out soon so we planned to have a night out after she went back to work.
Well, our night went from two girlies to four girlies and let me tell you, it was a lot more fun with the four of us! Our first stop was at a restaurant called, Bolero. The food was pretty good but I think the all around favorite was the White Sangrias (note that they are not actually white . . . they are pink!)

Here are some snapshots of our time at Bolero:
Bolero Collage
After lots of laughs, sharing food and a couple of drinks, it was time for dessert! But before we got dessert, we stopped at a candy store and had some fun (I’ll spare you the details here).

For dessert, we had reservations at The Melting Pot . . . . yuuuummmm! I think my absolute favorite there is the S’mores fondue. Here we had some more laughs, embarrassed our waiter, and acted completely silly.
Melting Pot Collage
Before we all met up, my sister’s MIL told us to have fun and not to pick up any men. I can honestly tell you that we were totally oblivious to anyone who might be around us . . . especially men! The purpose was to have a night free of husbands, boyfriends and kids. That night, we vowed to have these nights out at least every other month if not every month. I sure hope we stick to that because I don’t think I’ve ever had that much fun!

Now onto to blog/shop business. As I’m sure you have noticed, I did not post a color challenge this week. I am debating whether or not I’m going to keep doing the challenges because I’m not seeing much interest in it. If you enjoy the color challenges and want to participate, I would love to hear your feedback. While I’m trying to figure it all out, I’m going to extend last week’s challenge through this week and will share my decision next Monday. Thank you to all who have participated so far. I’ve really enjoyed seeing your creations!

I think that’s enough for now, you all probably have brain overload now. Hehehe!

Just a Little Bit of Nuthin'

Been trying to think of something to post all evening and I just can't come up with anything. So, with the threat of snow this weekend, I think I'll just leave you with one of my favorite photos that I've taken. It was on my vacation last year to Cozumel. I would absolutely live on the beach if I could!

Summer can't come soon enough!!

iBowl Uh-Oh!

Last night I uploaded iBowl while I was in the car with my hubby running errands. I couldn't wait to try it out when I got home. We got home and while hubby was messing with the TV, I decided to try out my new game. After a couple of tries, I thought to myself, "wow, I could easily send this phone flying if I'm not careful". No sooner did that thought cross my mind that the new shiny iPhone went flying out of my hand toward our fairly new LCD TV. It was like slow motion. . . phone goes flying, my jaw drops, I leap forward to catch the iPhone before it goes flying into the TV, CAUGHT! Whew! That was a close call! After I caught it I busted out laughing (I tend to do that when I get that kind of adrenaline rush). I looked over at hubby who was standing there with the look of horror on his face as he says (only half kidding), "If that two-hundred dollar phone had landed in my thousand dollar TV, I would have totally kicked your ass!"

Note to self: Be sure to buy one of those silicone sleeves for iPhone to avoid SERIOUS consequences!

Just a Quick Post

How was everyone's weekend? We had some beautiful weather with temps in the 50's & 60's which is crazy because last week we had two days of sleet and freezing temps. Hubby and I had a date night (long time coming). We saw Taken with Liam Neeson, a good movie that I would probably give 4 out of 5 stars, and then had a late dinner. It was good to be able to spend some quality time with him. We are so busy these days that we forget that we need to take time out for each other. . . I can't imagine how hard that is going to be when we have little ones demanding our attention. The rest of the weekend was used for errands and cleaning. I have to say, my house and laundry had been neglected for quite some time so it got some TLC today. . . laundry is almost done and the house is looking a little less like it was hit by a tornado. :D

I took a vacation day tomorrow from my "real" job mainly because I have been feeling physically and mentally fatigued, so a day off with no obligations is just what I need. I will probably use some time tomorrow to get some orders finished and shipped out but other than that I think I'll just do whatever I feel like doing. We all need days like that, right?

Hope everyone has a great week and don't forget to check back tomorrow when I announce what this week's Tuesday Teaser will be and be sure to also come back Friday when I have my first Feature Friday post! Pin It
